Why Naidu Silent On KCR's Projects?

It appears Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been ignoring the lifeline projects of the State, which is evident from the way he has remained silent on the agreements signed by his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhr Rao with Maharasthra on inter-state projects on Godavari river.

The YSR Congress party on Friday questioned why the TDP government has not questioned KCR on the river water sharing issue.

“While KCR has been on an agreement signing spree with Maharashtra Chandrababu Naidu did not even question him though the state division act clearly mentions that Andhra Pradesh should be a party to all water sharing agreements,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said.

To build a project on Krishna or Godavari rivers permission from the apex body, Central Water Commission and other relevant authorities is required and the consent of Andhra Pradesh should be taken. When the law is clear on the issue KCR signing agreements with his Maharashtra counterpart and Chandrababu Naidu never raising his voice shows his attitude of compromise after the cash for vote episode.

“If KCR has his way and builds projects without being questioned Godavari delta will become a desert and being silent at this juncture is nothing but mortgaging the interest of State for personal gains,” she said adding that the Telangana Chief Minister stating that his state’s share of Godavari waters is 954 TMC has to be contested.

Even the TDP ministers in the Union cabinet do not speak out putting the farmers’ future in a quandary. It was YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has been questioning the Telangana government on its expeditions in Krishna and Godavari rivers depriving due share to Andhra Pradesh, she said.
