Why Is Jagan Party Confined To Hyderabad?

Why Is Jagan Party Confined To Hyderabad?

Andhra Pradesh has more or less cut off its links with Hyderabad, administratively and politically. Almost entire administration of Andhra Pradesh has moved to Vijaywada, Guntur and Amaravati capital region and employees, braving all the difficulties, have started working from there.

Politically, too, parties having interest in AP have shifted their base to Vijayawada or Guntur. The ruling Telugu Desam Party has been operating from Vijayawada for quite some time and it recently shifted its state headquarters to Guntur.

The AP unit of the BJP, too, has moved to Vijayawada. So are the Congress and the Communists who have been operating from Vijayawada.

However, only YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is still running its show from Lotus Pond in Hyderabad.

All the Andhra Pradesh-based leaders are forced to come all the way to Lotus Pond to talk to the media against the Chandrababu Naidu government. Since the media persons looking after Andhra Pradesh affairs have also moved to Vijayawada and Guntur, there is hardly any response to Jagan party leaders’ press conference in Hyderabad.

Politically, too, it is causing a lot of inconvenience for the party leaders, as they feel the operation of the major political party should be from the capital region of the state and not the neighbouring state.

Why is Jagan so reluctant to move to Amaravati region? Apparently, he feels moving to Amaravati would mean endorsing Naidu’s selection of capital region which his party has been opposing. But whether he agrees or not, the capital city is gradually taking shape.

If he does not operate his party from there, he would lose the advantage to Naidu, say party leaders.
