Why is Jagan invoking NTR to target Naidu?

Why is Jagan invoking NTR to target Naidu?

A couple of days ago, Telugu television news channels carried special reports on former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao coinciding with the 34th foundation day of the TDP.

Fine, but what is surprising is that Sakshi television channel, promoted by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, also carried a special report – “Telugu Desam Party – Naadu, Nedu” (TDP then and now).

Well, the intention of Sakshi might be to attack present TDP president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu by projecting how he had back-stabbed his father-in-law to usurp power.

If it was to that extent, it would have been fine. But the entire programme was focusing on how the TDP changed the political dynamics of the State by dethroning decades-old Congress regime, how it stood by the poor, how it took several welfare programmes like Rs 2 a kg rice scheme and how it introduced reservations for women in local bodies etc.

The focus was more on the TDP’s good works, rather than NTR, at least in the initial part of the programme. All through the telecast, it was showing yellow TDP flag fluttering.

Whether Jagan would agree or not, the programme has only helped the TDP, though it might have shown Naidu in bad light.

One fails to understand why Jagan chose to promote the TDP in his attempt to attack Naidu; and where is the need for him to invoke NTR at this stage, rather than projecting his own father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy who was equally popular.

Even other YSR Congress party leaders like R K Roja was praising the TDP and NTR, while attacking Naidu. She told media that Naidu had totally destroyed the ideals of NTR in founding the TDP.

Will it help YSR Congress party in any way, Mr Jagan?
