Not everybody produces films out of passion. Some people do it as a business; some others do it out of compulsion.
Some people do not take out a penny from their pockets but still make films on behalf of other investors as their benamis. And there are people who make film for either political benefits or business interests.
Sometime ago, there was a talk in the film industry that a politician from Nellore produced a film hoping that it would help him go up the ladder in politics and become an MLC using the influence of the actor.
Forget getting the MLC seat, he had lost all his monies and had even been forced to sell some of his assets.
At present, there is a Telugu film on the sets with a senior actor in the lead role. This has generated an interesting gossip in the film industry circles.
The producers of this film have a cement industry, which requires 400 acres of land having limestone reserve on lease.
When late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was in power, he gave this land on lease to somebody else, but after TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu came to power, he cancelled this lease. Now, these producers are trying to get this land on lease.
Since the top hero of the film is in the ruling party and is also closely related to the people in power, the producers have ventured into film making with this hero.
They don’t mind losing a few crore rupees on the film (if the film flops), but they would be happy if the hero help them get the land on lease.
It is not known how far this gossip is correct, but nothing can be ruled in film industry!
