Why Didn't Jagan Comment On Defections?

With the exit of two YSRCP MPs from the party, a sense of insecurity has enveloped the remaining members of the party.

The situation is tense within the party though the extent of damage to YSRCP is yet to be assessed. In the past, two MLAs who won on the TDP ticket, Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Balanagi Reddy defected into Congress which was in power, within three months.

At that time, they vehemently criticized Chandra Babu Naidu and extended their support to the then chief minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

This time around, it is interesting to note that MPs SPY Reddy and Butta Renuka quit the party even before Chandra Babu has been sworn in as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

However, their exit has raised many questions about Jagan’s capability to lead the party and his ability to retain the support of his MLAs and MPs till the next elections.

And if the rival parties make an issue of Jagan’s name being involved in various corruption charges, then the party’s future might be in doldrums.

The news of MPs defecting broke on Sunday. Yet, Jagan Mohan Reddy hasn’t reacted till now as the party head. So, there is confusion within the party cadre about the party’s future.

It is time that Jagan reiterates his position and instills confidence among his supporters. Else, chances are high that many more might choose to leave the party in days to come.
