Why Did Jagan Boycott Naidu Presentation?

Why Did Jagan Boycott Naidu Presentation?

YSR Congress party president and Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday skipped the meeting convened by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Andhra assembly hall, where the Capital Region Development Authority officials and representatives of the London-based architects Foster and Partners gave a presentation on Amaravati capital designs.

It was a sort of all-party meeting where Naidu wanted to take formal views of all political parties before finalising the designs of Amaravati. His plan was that he should not get negative comments from the Opposition later, once the designs are finalised.

So, he sent his Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana to Jagan to personally invite him for the power point presentation.

Reason is simple: Jagan does not want to be partner to Naidu’s strategy to claim later that he had the approval of the opposition party in the capital construction.

At the same, he did not want to send wrong signals to the people either that the opposition was not cooperating with the government in the capital construction. So, he sent a few of his party MLAs to the meeting.

Jagan later told media that the power point presentation had no meaning at all, except the delaying tactics of the Naidu government.

He pointed out that in the last three years, not a single brick was moved in the capital and Naidu was only trying to hoodwink the people with such gimmicks.

“I did not attend the meeting because I don’t want to waste my time on such meaningless meetings,” he claimed.
