Only in India are these sorts of things possible. We have a person without any academic credentials heading the Union HRD Ministry and now, the Law Minister of Delhi, Jitender Singh Tomar is accused of holding a ‘fake law degree’ from a Bihar University.
Imagine that! A Law Minister with a fake degree. Couldn’t be more ironical and funnier if proven true.
While the ‘Bar Council of India’ has immediately suspended his license to practice law pending further inquiry into the matter. However, CM Kejriwal was content with asking Tomar for the time being, for an explanation into the allegations against him.
Why can’t Kejriwal ask Tomar for the latter’s resignation until the allegations are proved false?
And what does Tomar himself have to say about the whole episode? “My degrees and certificates are genuine. The University records have been tampered with.”
The ‘Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University’ in Bihar submitted an affidavit in the Delhi High Court stating that Tomar’s provisional certificate was ‘fabricated and did not exist in the University’s records’.
