Why blame media for metro rail row?

T-letter written by L&T to the Telangana government threatening to withdraw from the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail project has kicked up yet another media row.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi and its supporting media have started attacking the two dailies – Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy – for publishing the contents of the letter, instead of targeting L&T for its blackmailing tactics.

It is a fact that the letter was written by L&T which has even admitted it; and the media published it. It is a different matter that it was leaked only to these two newspapers.

But both L&T and the TRS government tried avoid commenting on the contents of the letter, while giving clarification.

There were allegations that L&T was fed up with the hurdles created by the government in handing over the right of way for the project – especially in the Madhapur area, where the land meant for the project was allotted to an industrialist close to KCR.

But the pro-KCR media ignored these facts and attacked the two Telugu dailies, accusing them of tarnishing the brand image of Hyderabad.

By the way, who is tarnishing the brand image?
