Why Are They Mum Now?

After the Seshachalam encounter, a huge hue-and cry was raised by neighboring Tamil Nadu and vehicles from Andhra and Andhra establishments there were targeted.

But again yesterday, the police arrested a group of 74 red sanders coolies near Chinamandem village in Kadapa district. The laborers were from Salem district in Tamil Nadu and had hired a private bus.

The coolies decorated the bus with a floral garland and posed as members of a marriage party. However, Kadapa district police, who got a tip-off about the movement of red sanders smugglers and workers, intercepted the bus and searched the luggage, only to discover axes, saw blades and other equipment that is used in the felling of trees.

According to police, the laborers were well equipped to stay in the forest for a longer period. They were carrying food sufficient to last for a fort night. Kadapa police produced the arrested before the media on Friday evening.

They also seized the bus which was carrying the laborers from Chittoor district to Rayachoti in Kadapa district. When even after such a tragic encounter, hundreds of workers continue to come to AP from Tamil Nadu, it is clearly the fault of the Tamil Nadu government.

If the government there did its job well, these people wouldn’t need to come to AP to participate in illegal activities. 74 of them have been arrested and produced before the media. And not a single Tamil Nadu politician has spoken out.
