It has been more than a year since Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao laid foundation stones for various “Bhavans” for Dalits, Tribals, Christians and even for religious minorities like Agrasen community.
However, not a single Bhavan has taken a shape so far, while the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders have been on construction spree at several places.
For example, the Banjara Bhavan in the prime locality of Banjara Hills Road No. 10 is yet to start. The land has all the clear titles and is still in the possession of the Telangana government. It is now being used for parking vehicles and open defaecation by local slum dwellers.
Same is the case with the Christian Bhavan at Mahindra Hills. The Chief Minister had allocated land and announced sanction of Rs 10 crore, while laying foundation stone on December 25, 2014.
He had even announced that he would participate in Christmas celebrations in the new building in 2015. But not a single stone was removed from the place so far and KCR stayed away from the Christmas celebrations and remained busy with his Chandi Yagam at his Erravelli farmhouse.
The Congress leaders on Friday staged a novel protest by celebrating Christmas at the very site in Mahindra Hills where KCR laid foundation stone for Christian Bhavan exactly one year ago.
"KCR has cheated the entire Christian community on the occasion of holy Christmas last year. He laid the foundation for Christmas Bhavan, sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for the building and even promised that this year's Christmas will be celebrated in the same building. After one year and two days, except for the foundation stone and plaque, there is nothing on this site," Congress leader Shabbir Ali said.
