What will Naidu achieve with his foreign trips?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu left for Davos in Switzerland on Sunday to attend the 47th World Economic Forum meeting to be held from January 17 to 20.

This is the third consecutive year after he returned to power in 2014 that Naidu is attending the WEF conference being held at Davos as a special invitee. Along with him, a host of ministers and officials also left for Switzerland at public expense.

The government is also spending huge money to showcase Andhra Pradesh as an investment destination.

The government is going to brand a special bus highlighting that Andhra Pradesh No.1 Destination for Corporate Investment.

The colorfully decorated bus, carrying various other achievements of the state, will ply during the Summit. The aim is to attract industrialists and investors from abroad to the new Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation.

So far so good. Nobody would question the attempts of Naidu to attract investments. But what had he achieved from his previous meetings? That is the question.

Like in the past, Naidu would hold talks with about 50 organizations including General Electricals, Jetro, Zaika, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Medtranik, Wageningen University and Research, AECOM and Master Card etc.

But how much investment Naidu could get from similar meetings he had held in the past? What happened to hundreds of MoUs Naidu had signed with the investors at the previous Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam?

It would have been nice had Naidu issued a white paper on these achievements before leaving for Davos. Otherwise, people will think it is mere waste of money and time!
