Chandrababu Naidu gave an ultimatum to farmers saying that his government would forcibly acquire the lands of those farmers in Krishna and Guntur districts if they did not agree to land pooling system for the construction of the new capital.
In the ‘land pooling’ system, farmers will have a share after the development (of capital) instead of compensation.
“Farmers should not expect crores of rupees as compensation. However, for those who do not agree to the sharing system, we will take their lands and pay them two times the prevailing market rate,” said Nadu.
Naidu further added that a few farmers cannot be expected to hold to ransom, the development of the new capital. Naidu also said that many people advised him against making Vijayawada, the capital but he took a courageous decision and stuck to it.

That Vijayawada was chosen even though the ‘Sivaramakrishnan Committee’ was against it was only to benefit Naidu’s community, a majority of who are landlords in this region and have already made money in the real-estate boom now witnessed.
And what about your loan-waiver scheme, Mr. Naidu?
On the one hand, you have not fulfilled this election promise of yours on which you rode to power, but now you are openly issuing a warning to those very farmers.
As the Chief Minister, you should negotiate with the farmers and try and arrive at a win-win situation. They are not aliens. They are our very own farmers and we need to take care of them.
By issuing threats openly against them after begging them for votes, what do you hope to achieve? This will not reflect well on you!
