Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday openly declared that he has got the "real kick" with the completion of his dream project Pattiseema, linking Godavari river with Krishna basin.
What has given so much kick to Naidu? Well, the answer is simple. He has given the contract to his favourite company Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) owned by Krishna Reddy, who had quoted five per cent excess than the estimated rate of Rs 1400 crore.
Though the project is yet to be completed, the AP government has given so much hype to it saying it was completed within the scheduled time of one year and Naidu had to dedicate the project to the nation twice.
By doing so, the Naidu government has given a bonus of 16.5 per cent to the contractor. In all, the contractor was benefitted by Rs 300 crore. One can imagine how much percentage the powers-that-be might have got. Naturally, it gives a big kick to Naidu!
The latest news is that the government is going to give another Rs 200 crore to the MEIL in the name of miscellaneous works like electricals and paintings. So, more kick to Naidu!
