What A Theory From AJ Radhakrishna?

What A Theory From AJ Radhakrishna?

The other day, there was a strange report in Andhra Jyothy Telugu daily. This report has come out with a strange reasoning as to why the Centre had to announce special financial package to Andhra Pradesh, in lieu of special category status.

According to this report, the Central intelligence department has conducted a lightening survey among thousands of people in Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra and north-coastal Andhra, at a time when the demand for special category status was picking up, particularly after the introduction of a private member bill by Congress MP K V P Ramachandra Rao in Rajya Sabha.

The survey had apparently revealed that majority of the people in Andhra Pradesh were not aware of exactly what the special category status would mean and that they only wanted generous flow of funds from the Centre for the development of the state.

Among the remaining, too, majority people, who are aware of the special category status by regularly watching television channels and reading newspapers, also want sufficient funds from the Centre irrespective of whether it was through special status or special package.

And only 20-25 per cent people strongly believed that justice would be done only through special category status, since it would bring large number of industries and generate a lot of employment.

It was only after obtaining the feedback from the people through the survey, the Centre has decided to announce the special package and not special status, says the report.

What does it mean? If the majority people wanted special category status, the Centre would have granted the same. Since majority of the people did not want it, the Centre had to give special package.

What a farce?
