Wasting Money For His Branding

Hyderabad: Despite being the head of the TDP, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu even today has to live under the shadow of NTR.

In an attempt to create a legacy of his own, he has now started a scheme called ‘Chandranna Sankranthi Kanuka’ under which, ‘below the poverty line’ families in the state were given six food items on the eve of Sankranthi. This is the second year for the scheme.

There has been pilferage to the tune of nearly Rs 370 crore this year and the families were supplied with unbelievably poor quality of jiggery, rice, dhal and ghee.

Why does the Chief Minister need to come out with such populist schemes when the state finances are in a mess?

Instead, if he had used the money to start some small scale industries, it would have generated employment to these poor people instead of making them parasites on the system and wait for the next Sankranthi?

And these poor people could not eat the items either thanks to the quality.
