Was Jagan not invited for assembly inauguration?

The new building complex of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council was inaugurated amidst a lot of pomp at Velagapudi on Thursday.

A large number of MLAs, officials and ministers attended the inauguration done by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

There were cultural programmes after the inauguration and farmers from surrounding villages who donated their lands for the new capital of Amaravati were also present there.

However, the only people who were conspicuous by their absence were YSR Congress party legislators and MLCs, led by Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

The MLAs were participating in protest rallies at various places across the state condemning the foisting of cases against Jagan for allegedly abusing the doctors at Nandigama hospital a couple of days ago.

While Naidu and Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao ignored the absence of Jagan and his party MLAs, Minister for Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said it would have been nice had the opposition party MLAs had accepted the invitation and attended the function.

However, YSRC leaders pooh-poohed Yanamala claim. They said they had not received any invitation from the government or the Speaker. “Now, they are trying to bluff and throw the blame on us,” the MLAs said.
