Votes deletion in GHMC: Bhanwar Lal, Somesh Kumar to be axed!

The Election Commission of India is reportedly serious over deletion of lakhs of voters from the voters list in Hyderabad ahead of GHMC elections.

The commission has received largescale complaints against Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal and GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar over deletion of lakhs of votes at the behest of ruling TRS party.

The commission has sent a 14-member inquiry team to inquire into these complaints and going by highly-placed sources both Bhanwarlal and Somesh Kumar are likely to be axed by the Election Commission over this issue.

The inquiry team is currently touring the city and conducting ground level inquiry to ascertain how many votes were removed against the norms.

Opposition Congress, TDP, BJP complained that Bhanwarlal and Somesh Kumar were behaving like “TRS party agents” and removed nearly 7 lakh votes so far and issued notices to another 19 lakh voters for deletion of votes.

They alleged that this was done to benefit TRS in the GHMC polls as majority of the voters removed belong to Seemandhra region.

The inquiry committee has convened a meeting with all political parties on Saturday to their views on deletion of votes. The parties were asked to submit the proofs in support of their complaints.

The committee will inquire into all these details and submit a report to Election Commission, which will take a final decision of restoration of genuine voters.
