One interesting version says that Reddy created trouble for himself by trying to imitate liquor baron Vijay Mallya.
As per this version, it is said that after Venkatarami Reddy bought IPL team, he totally became a changed man and started emulating his friend and business partner Vijay Mallya.
Right from sporting a ponytail to traveling around in specially hired aircrafts, Venkatarami Reddy did everything that reflected the ostentatious lifestyle of Mallya.
He also went on to take huge loans from big financial institutions once he converted his company into a public limited company. Now, many are blaming him for using the money to lead a rather hi-profile lifestyle.
He is known for his love of cars and he would pick up any new model of hi-end cars launched in the market. Rolls Royce Phantom, BMW, Land Rover, Benz... you name it and he would add it to his fleet of cars.
Then of course, everybody knows of his love for racing. Apparently, he would buy some really costly horses and send them to races all over the country.
Though he still technically owns the largest circulated English daily in Telangana, he had invested in various other businesses and ended up making heavy losses. Also, his lifestyle took a toll on the man, say his close aides.
