Venkaiah failed to fetch spl status to AP

Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu who made tall claims that he would ensure securing Special Status to Andhra Pradesh is now under eye of storm for his failure.

The Centre is understood to have categorically told the AP government that there was no possibility of granting special status to AP.

At the most, it would release special grants for construction of new capital, that too, partially. It is also silent on declaring Polavaram as national project and granting 100 per cent funds for the same.

Now, Venkaiah who played a key role in getting the bifurcation bill passed in Parliament, is facing the heat both from the people and the opposition. There is a demand for his resignation for failing to fetch special status to the residuary Andhra Pradesh State.

Demanding that Venkaiah apologize to people for failing to keep his promise on statehood, CPI leader K Ramakrishna ridiculed the minister for stating that Centre was facing economic problems and could not give special status to AP as it will attract similar demands from other States.

“Venkaiah is inefficient for asking Chief Secretary to send proposals for Capital City, Secretariat, High Court, Assembly and government offices, instead of special status”, he criticized.
