UPA Bulldozes Telangana Bill

It was virtually a bulldozing of the Telangana bill by the UPA government in Lok Sabha on Tuesday; of course, with the help of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the principle opposition.

That the Congress party had its way in getting the Telangana bill passed in Lok Sabha was evident from the blackout of Lok Sabha television channel, just to see that the people would not be able to understand what was happening inside the House.

At least 50 MPs belonging to AIADMK, BJD, Shiv Sena, CPI (M) and other parties were still in the well of the House, but the government was going ahead with voting on various amendments proposed by it as well as the BJP.

In fact, the passage of the bill was so quick that the entire debate took place only for 23 minutes.

Except Shinde, Sushma Swaraj and Jaipal Reddy, there was no chance for anybody to speak.

It was an unprecedented development in the history of Lok Sabha and it is all because of one woman – Sonia Gandhi who was firm on getting her assurance fulfilled, even at the cost of the interests of Seemandhra people.
