Till the other day, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi used to treat popular Telugu television channel TV9 as its enemy and a “pucca Andhra channel” as it was carrying stories against the government.
Even during the heavy rains in Hyderabad, TV9 had to incur the wrath of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for over-projection of flood situation in the city only to malign the TRS government.
But on Friday, the channel came out with a stunning survey, which was completely in favour of KCR.
The survey, conducted in coordination with Centre for Psephology Studies, has revealed that if mid-term elections are held now, the TRS will win 109 out of 119 seats in Telangana state.
The MIM will be in second position with seven seats, while the Congress will win only two seats and the BJP will win one. The TDP and the YSR Congress party will draw blank.
The TV9 survey has further revealed that nearly 75 per cent of the people have expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the TRS government and only 13 per cent said it was bad.
The voting percentage of the TRS would be 67.88 per cent, as against 33.66 per cent votes it got in 2014 elections.
In at least nine constituencies, the TRS would get more than 90 per cent of the votes. And the Opposition parties would lose deposits in more than 70 seats, the survey said.
One does not know how far this survey is reliable, but it will definitely give a boost to the TRS. And as far as the credibility of the TV9 in conducting this survey is concerned, one has to wait and see how the viewers would react to it.
