Students of Osmania University, who played a major role during the movement for separate Telangana state, have become villains for the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi after the latter came to power.
The students are now up in arms against chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has turned a Nelson’s eye towards the OU.
Even the centenary celebrations have become a big farce and KCR, who attended the celebrations, left the venue without speaking a word.
After that, the TRS leaders have been desperate attempts to lure the OU students. They thought they could trap the students by throwing a massive feast, so that they could turn the TRS sympathisers overnight.
On Sunday, a local TRS leader arranged a big non-vegetarian feast at the E-hostel of the OU, exclusively for students and the sponsor for the feat was Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender on the occasion of his son Nithin's wedding.
Invitations were sent to over 2,000 students from Osmania University. for a non-vegetarian feast in the premises of E-hostel.
Invitations were also circulated on WhatsApp and Facebook. The TRS leader said the non-veg party was thrown by the minister as a goodwill gesture, since he was also an OU student leader in the past.
The students, however, declined the invitation by saying that it was an insult for them for being invited to the feast and not to the wedding ceremony.
They said the TRS leaders cannot lure them with such parties, but wanted the government to improve the conditions on the campus and also provide them jobs.
