TRS, Cong Cross Swords

It is now official. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Congress have parted ways and decided to contest independently in the coming elections.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on Saturday made it clear that his party would not have any electoral tie-up with the Congress party in the ensuing general elections.

He declared that his party would not have any truck with the Congress leave alone merger of his party.

He also clarified that TRS politburo has taken this decision in the wake the allegations leveled by AICC leader Digvijay Singh against his party.

“Let us see who will leave the TRS and who will join the Congress now”, he added.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress party also claimed that it was strong enough to contest and win the ensuing elections alone.

Reacting to the decision of TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao of not having an alliance with the Congress, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the Congress party has a strong cadre and organisational set-up in Telangana region and it does not need any allies to win the elections.

He said that it was KCR who offered to merge his party with the Congress and later, he had also set up a committee led by K Keshav Rao to explore the options of having an alliance. Now KCR is trying to give an impression as if Congress was behind the TRS seeking merger or alliance, he said.
