TRS Bulldozing Assembly Session

TRS Bulldozing Assembly Session

It looks like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has decided to bulldoze the ongoing winter session of the state assembly without giving any scope for the opposition to raise its voice on any issue.

The Congress party on Saturday gave an adjournment motion on poaching of its party MLAs by the TRS in violation of the anti-defection law.

As expected, the Speaker rejected the motion and it is quite natural that the Congress members stormed the podium. They would have returned to their seats after some time or at the most, staged a walk out, but the ruling party did not want to give them even to register their mild protest.

Within no time, Minister for Legislative Affairs T Harish Rao moved a motion suspending nine Congress members for a day for storming the podium.

After some time, two TDP members – A Revanth Reddy and S Venkata Veeraiah also tried to raise their voice and they were also suspended for the day.

Apparently, the ruling party is following the strategy suggested by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who told the TRS Legislature Party the other day that the House should run at any cost and the Opposition members should be suspended even for a mild protest.

Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy lamented that the TRS government was behaving in a dictatorial manner and wondered whether the Opposition members had no right to protest.

“I feel it is better to go into the people directly, rather than coming to the assembly, which is not giving any chance to protest,” he regretted.
