Telangana TDP To Revive Grand Alliance?

Telangana TDP To Revive Grand Alliance?

At the national level, the Telugu Desam Party has forged an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, but in Telangana, it may not have such an agreement with the saffron party, which is planning to go alone in 2019 assembly elections to take on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

That is perhaps why the TDP is said to be contemplating revival of the Maha Kootami (grand alliance) with like-minded political forces and organisations.

During 2009 elections, the TDP had a grand alliance with the TRS and the Communist parties to take on the Congress party, but this time, it has no friends.

Yet, the TDP Telangana leaders are planning for a grand alliance with various social organisations including the Telangana JAC.

The party leaders are holding talks with SC,ST, BC and Minority organisations besides other community associations fighting on their demands.

All the leaders of the organizations will be roped into active politics and will be fielded as candidates on behalf of the grand alliance.

All these social organisations have strong network and cadre in every mandal in the State. In the recent times, the organisations intensified their activities and are holding regular meetings and dharnas on various problems faced by their respective communities.

TDP state unit president L Ramana said his party is making efforts to bring all the organisations under a single roof and fight for their rights on behalf of TDP in the next two years.

During the elections, the leaders of the organisations would be promoted as prospectus candidates in the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies.

Talks are in progress with the leaders of various organisation leaders and a decision towards creating Maha Kutami would be taken soon and the grand alliance would take a shape next year, he said.
