Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Friday said Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao had spearheaded Telangana agitation only for strengthening his party and not for achievement of separate Telangana State.
Speaking at the BJP workers’ meeting convened on the occasion of national party president Amit Shah’s visit to Hyderabad, Nagam asked whether Telangana State would have come into being if the BJP did not extend support to the cause? He also reminded that he had actively participated in the 1969 Telangana movement.
Nagam said they will wait and see how far the Chief Minister fulfill his promises. He also lamented that his party could not fare well in the recent elections because the BJP lacked support in the villages. He also said they could not take the contribution of the BJP for separate State to the people in the region. However, he exuded confidence that his party under the stewardship of Amith Shah would wrest power in Telangana in the future.
