TDP Threatens To Stop Ads To Control Media

Telugu Desam Party’s senior leader Gaali Muddu Krishnama Naidu has severely condemned some write-ups that have appeared in Sakshi newspaper.

His grouse against the paper owned and run by YS Jagan was that they published stories with a negative slant regarding the Sankranthi scheme of AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu.

He said the paper was involved in spreading false and baseless stories which must be condemned immediately.

Muddu Krishnamanaidu felt that TDP must follow in the footsteps of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who had stopped government ads for Andhra Jyothi for a month to curtail them from writing negative stories about his government.

Incidentally, at that time, TDP and other opposition parties had vehemently criticized YSR for taking the decision.

Ironically, Muddu Krishnamanaidu who jumped from Congress into TDP is now demanding that the same procedure be followed to censure Sakshi.

Meanwhile, the TDP government hasn’t been giving many ads to Sakshi anyways. So is Muddu Krishnamanaidu unaware of this fact or does he want the Centre to stop giving ads to Sakshi too?

Is this the price of being opposition mouth-piece? Is this press freedom in TDP rule?
