TDP On Rampage Against Jagan

The massive response received by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in East Godavari district where he called on victims of proposed Divi’s Laboratories triggered outburst from the Telugu Desam Party leaders.

AP Irrigation minister Devineni Umameshwara Rao wondered why Jagan was opposing industries coming up in Godavari districts.

“He had earlier instigated people against Mega Aqua Food Park. Now, he is opposing Divi’s. Why hasn’t he raised similar protest meetings at Ramky Pharma, which is also setting up its unit in Visakhapatnam?” he asked and alleged that Jagan had taken up dharna only because Divi’s had refused to pay him kickbacks.

Reacting to Jagan’s criticism on the growth of Heritage group within no time, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said Heritage was a 23-year old company and it had a gradual growth.

“It is not like one of those suitcase companies of Jagan which had made crores of rupees without even producing anything. Jagan has the history of selling Rs 10 worth shares of his company for thousands of rupees without it starting any production,” Yanamala said.

Retorting to the TDP leaders’ criticism, YSRC spokesperson K Parthasarathi said Jagan had only reflected the opposition from the people who were affected from the flow of effluents from the pharma company Divis Labs.

“We are always supporting any project that benefits the people and in this case, the people and their aqua culture have being affected with the flow of effluents from the Pharma Company,” he said.

TDP’s charge that our leader has been holding dharnas only if the company does not pay ransom is meaningless. TDP should say why the remaining companies that have signed MoUs did not set up shop in the state and if they were not allowed as they did not pay ransom to ruling party leaders, he said.
