Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Friday said the people of Telangana will never forget AICC president Sonia Gandhi for granting statehood to Telangana region.
Talking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan here after attending Ranga Reddy District Committee review held by party president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Sabita said they did not expect the poll debacle. She attributed the defeat to the utter failure of the party in taking its manifesto to the people of the region.
She asked the Telangana State government to refrain from giving trouble to middle class people.
“When we talk about welfare schemes, the present government is alleging that we are making false accusations,” she said.
She also exuded confidence that Congress would win the ensuing GHMC elections.
“As the TRS is in power, we are supposed to stand by the people. We have to strengthen the Congress and coordinate with leaders and workers to strive for addressing the people’s issues. The Congress men have to exert pressure on the government to implement its welfare schemes,” she said.
