Surprising as it may sound, the Telugu Desam Party appears to be happy with the defection of senior Congress leaders into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Reacting to the defection of Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy into the TRS along with Miryalguda MLA N Bhaskar Rao, former MP G Vivek and former minister G Vinod on Wednesday, Telangana Telugu Desam Party legislator A Revanth Reddy said the Congress party deserved such humiliation.
“I have been telling the Congress party right from the beginning that TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to destabilise the opposition parties.
"When he was luring the TDP MLAs into the TRS, we sought the support of the Congress to resist the defection. But the Congress leaders did not cooperate with us. Now, the TRS is wiping out the Congress party by attracting its MLAs one after the other.
"It is facing the same plight as the TDP had faced till recently. The Congress deserves this insult,” he said.
Revanth predicted that the next target of the TRS president is the BJP.
“We won’t be surprised if the TRS lures even BJP MLAs into it,” he said.
