Side Effects Of The 'Cash-For-Vote' Scandal

Side Effects Of The 'Cash-For-Vote' Scandal

The Revanth Reddy episode has resulted in many complications or side-effects further heating up the atmosphere between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Let us have a look at some of them.

The major side-effect arising out of the whole tussle is the demand for implementation of section 8.

TDP says Section 8 needs to be implemented at any cost whereas TRS is naturally against it. The ACB of Telangana has also lost dynamism into the investigation of the case.

Similarly, the Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a SIT to look into phone tapping by the Telanganites. What will become of this SIT?

Another AP argument emerging out of this is that they also have the right to appoint the heads to constitutional bodies in Hyderabad. What will be the response to this argument?

Similarly, AP has threatened to set up its own police stations in Hyderabad if section 8 is not implemented and some TDP people have raised the demand once again for making Hyderabad, a Union Territory.

And last but not least, a number of cases have been filed against KCR in AP. But not a single summons has been served on him so far. Will it ever happen?

As we can see, Revanth Reddy episode has opened a Pandora’s Box.
