Shock to Naidu: T- ACB gets EC nod

In a rude shock to already beleaguered Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday gave green signal to the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau to go ahead with the investigation into the cash-for-vote scam involving TDP legislator A Revanth Reddy.

According to official sources, Election Commission has written a letter to ACB Director General A K Khan to conduct a full-fledged investigation into the scam and take it to the logical conclusion.

It asked the ACB authorities to go deep into the case and bring the culprits to book. It asked Khan to submit a comprehensive report soon after the completion of investigation.

Sources said the EC’s letter follows the information given by the ACB authorities to the EC before arresting Revanth Reddy after the sting operation.

The TDP leaders have been arguing that the ACB had no powers to arrest Revanth since the election code was in force and it should ask only on the directions of the EC.

Now with EC itself giving the nod to step up the investigation,  the TDP leaders, particularly Naidu, is in deep trouble.
