At last, firebrand YSR Congress party MLA and actress R K Roja entered Andhra Pradesh state assembly on Monday, after a long gap of more than one year, but the threat of her suspension for one more year looms large on her.
Roja was suspended for one year in December 2015. Her suspension ended in December 2016, but since there were no sessions, she had to wait till March.
And the suspension was from the assembly at Hyderabad and now, she got an opportunity to enter the brand new assembly building at Velagapudi, Amaravati.
Roja arrived in the assembly premises in the bus along with the other party MLAs and kept the media persons in suspense as she was the last to get down from the bus.
She quietly entered the House and sat in the opposition benches and left the House immediately after the completion of Governor E S L Narasimhan’s address.
However, there were reports that she might not be allowed to enter the House on Monday, as the privileges committee submitted a report to Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao recommending extension of her suspension for one more year for her alleged defamatory comments against Telugu Desam Party legislator Anitha.
Media persons were expecting that there would be some drama on the assembly premises, if the marshals stopped her from entering the House. But, nothing of that sort happened and Roja walked in safely.
Apparently, Kodela did not take any decision immediately on Roja’s suspension for another year, as he does not want any ruckus on the day one itself. He might take a decision on Tuesday.
