Rayapudi To Lose Its Sheen!

Rayapudi To Lose Its Sheen!

Rayapudi village is famous for its lemon crop. It has an international market and is in huge demand in Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of the country.

However, Rayapudi is one of the villages that come under land pooling and the farmers feel that the new capital would naturally put an end to further agricultural aspirations.

Earlier, ‘Guava’ was the pride of Rayapudi. However, the smoke emanating from the nearby ‘Power Station’ sounded the death knell to this crop.

120 varieties of horticulture crops are produced in the areas earmarked for land acquisition in the first phase.

Is there no way of preserving these fertile lands and yet go ahead with the new capital?

Ultimately, the destruction of agriculture will sooner or later create a severe impact on the food security and procurement of genuine vegetables for the State.
