Public money to maintain Naidu's Hyd house?

The Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh is understood to have quietly issued a GO declaring chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s newly constructed house at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad as his camp office.

According to the orders, the Roads and Buildings department of the AP government will take over the maintenance of Naidu’s Jubilee Hills residence.

It does mean, the entire expenditure incurred on maintenance of the bungalow, including electricity bill, water bill, cleaning expenses, security and other supporting staff would be borne by the department from its own funds.

This is surprising, as Naidu already has a camp office at Lake View Guest House, which is maintained by the Telangana government.

Whenever the AP chief minister comes to Hyderabad and wants to hold official meetings, he can do so at the Lake View Guest House. But, he has hardly used the facility in the last three years.

The house at Jubilee Hills is Naidu’s own property and hence, it cannot be treated as his camp office.

Even if he wants to use a part of it as camp office, the government can at the most bear the expenses on clerical staff and security, but not the maintenance cost of the entire house.

What is worse, Naidu has another camp office at Vijayawada and also at his residence at Vundvalli. So, how many camp offices would Naidu have and how much money is being wasted on their maintenance is now a big issue!
