Congress party’s star campaigner in Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Vadra, along with her businessman-husband Robert Vadra came to Hyderabad on Saturday for getting treatment to their son Raihan Vadra for an eye injury.
Being a VIP from the Gandhi family in Z-category security, her arrival was informed well in advance to the Hyderabad police who made elaborate security arrangements for her visit right from her arrival in a special aircraft at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.
Security was also beefed up in and around the L V Hospital at Banjara Hills, where Raihan was treated for a couple of hours.
But the Congress party leaders in Telangnaa had no clue about Priyanka’s arrival and none of them went to the airport to receive her and her husband.
The couple drove straight away to the L V Prasad Eye Hospital at around 10.30 am and returned to Delhi by afternoon. Their son, who was hit on his eye by a cricket ball while playing in his school last week, received serious injury and was treated at AIIMS in New Delhi. He was referred to the Hyderabad hospital for a second opinion.
Telangana PCC chief Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who came to know about Priyanka’s visit an hour later after their arrival, tried to go to the hospital to meet them, but was asked not to disturb them since the treatment was going on.
