Power First, Promises Later!

Power First, Promises Later!

Come to power first by promising the moon to the electorate. Once you are safely ensconced in the CM chair you can then leisurely worry about the promises made during election time.

This is a trend that has always been in evidence in Indian politics and KCR and Chandrababu Naidu are simply continuing with it.

Both of them were aware of the huge deficit the respective states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would have to contend with if the loans of farmers were waived off. But they still chose to go ahead with this false promise and come to power.

Now, they are looking for ways and means to renege on their promise, KCR by restricting the waiver of loans only up to Rs 1 lakh and that too for the fiscal year 2013-14 only whereas Naidu has set up a committee to go into all aspects of the loan waiver. The committee will submit its report in 45 days.

Jagan Mohan Reddy made no such promises and he paid for it dearly. But his open letter to him is being ridiculed by Naidu who says that ‘loan waiver’ is not a joke and that the state is severely cash-strapped. Was Chandrababu not aware of this fact when including it in the manifesto of the TDP and was KCR not aware of the same issue? All that Jagan and the other Parties are asking is for Naidu and the TDP to honor their commitments.

Meanwhile Naidu is trying to manipulate public opinion through Eenadu, ABN and other channels by having them propagate that ‘loan waiver’ at this juncture is not advisable in the best interests of the new state and the patriotic farmers should not expect anything from the government at this stage as a mark of their contribution to the new state of ANDHRA Pradesh.

Truly shameless politics indeed by the yellow media! If things keep continuing in this fashion, then the dream of a ‘Swarnandhra Pradesh’ would be realized only by the community that owns the ‘yellow media’ and not for the State.
