After the Pushkaram tragedy, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has decided to hold a cabinet meeting in Rajahmundry itself probably as a sign of empathy with the people of the city apart from overseeing the activities in person.
The decision might have good intentions but it could actually cause further problems. Already, the city is choc-a-block with pilgrims from all parts of the State.
The administration following the tragedy is on tenterhooks and having a tough time in catering to their welfare.
If the Chandrababu now holds a cabinet meet there, it would mean about 150 VIP’s and officials descending on the city which means the officials would have to make their stay and comfort, their top priority. This would result on lesser focus on the Pushkaram activities.
Against the backdrop of what happened, this is a situation best avoided. Since the Pushkarams will be over by the 24th, Naidu can hold his meeting any time after that.
The interesting thing is that even a newspaper inclined to the ruling Party has espoused this line of view as did YSRCP leader Kothapalli Subbarayudu.
Hopefully, the CM will change his decision!
