Playing with words

Playing with words

Parakala Prabhakar, ‘Communications Adviser to AP’ has rushed to the defense of Chandrababu Naidu on the ‘loan waiver’ issue.

Responding to Jagan’s criticism over failing to keep promises, Parakala said that Jagan should get his facts correct first. “Crop loans mean agriculture loans in banking language. If farmers make losses, government will come forward to rescue them by making payment of the loss. But if they buy tractors and other equipment on the loans taken from the banks, the government will not compensate them,” said Parakala.

That is fine, Mr. Parakala! But how can you expect farmers to understand ‘banking parlance’?

When Chandrababu announced a loan waiver for all farmers, it was the responsibility of Chandrababu to be explicit as to what kinds of loans he was referring to!

Chandrababu and Parakala are just playing with words for having blatantly reneged on their promises.
