Playing With The Future Of Andhra Students!

There has been no consensus arrived at on the controversial issue of conducting 'EAMCET' by the governments of AP and Telangana.

The TRS government is keen on conducting its own ‘EAMCET’ and has rejected all proposals by AP in this regard.

One of the solutions offered by AP was for both the States to conduct the examination every alternate year for the next five years.

The TRS is of the opinion that since Telangana is a separate State now, they are entitled to conduct their own examinations. That is perfectly right had it not been for the city of Hyderabad being a common capital for the next ten years.

When Hyderabad is the capital city of AP as well, how can the students of AP become non-locals in educational institutions of their own capital city?

If Telangana conducts its own Eamcet then students of AP would become non-locals and they would have to compete with students from all across the country in the 15% non-local quota.

Highly advanced streams such as automobile, rubber, chemical and aeronautical engineering, are available mainly in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy colleges. AP students seeking admission in these colleges in the non-local category will end up with no seats or negligible number of seats in these branches.

The AP government says this is a clear violation of the ‘AP Reorganization Act’ which provides for equal opportunities in ‘Higher Education’ for the two successor states.

Why is KCR thinking with such a twisted mindset? What is the reason for his hatred and fear of Seemandhra people? Ironically, his son KTR was educated at Andhra institutions.

AP is against taking legal recourse as that action might result in a long protracted battle and this will affect the students. Naidu has once again complained to the Governor! However, judging by recent attempts, it is highly doubtful if Narasimhan can find a solution to the issue!
