People Need Reassurance!

People Need Reassurance!

There is nothing remarkable about the Home Minister of Telangana, Nayani Narasimha Reddy barring his moustache and the hair jutting out of his ears, making him an excellent candidate for a ‘Jeff Dunham’ show.

In the Assembly, Nayani made a speech defending larger allocations to the ‘Home Ministry’. Asking for extra funds for any Ministry is not the issue.

But Nayani painted such a bleak outlook of Hyderabad that anybody who listened to his speech will quit the city immediately.

Nayani says that the city is prone to extremist activities of naxalite groups, which plan violent attacks on police and civilians in addition to destruction of public properties at the slightest of opportunity.

Calling Hyderabad “communally sensitive”, he said the city is being used by religious fundamentalist groups, terrorist outfits to plan and spread communal violence, instigate and execute attacks on religious places, disrupt public life and cause panic and destruction through explosion, attack and sabotage.

In yet another telling comment on the state of affairs, the home department said “white collar crimes, cybercrimes, embezzlement, financial frauds of huge magnitude, land mafia, crime syndicates are also on the rise”  in the city.

The home department also admitted that the present strength of the city police is way too insufficient to meet even the normal requirement for maintaining law and order and regulate traffic.

The government believes that the steep increase in the city's population with ever growing economic activities has resulted in increase in crime and law and order problems.

He finally added, “Sporadic violence in Osmania University keeps the police on tenterhooks. They are forced to maintain extreme vigilance to keep the campus in check.” What Nayani should understand is that making this speech in the Assembly sends out the wrong signals to potential investors.

On one hand, KCR and his son KTR are touring the globe calling for investments and on the other, his Home Minister comes out with a grim picture of Hyderabad stating that they are heavily understaffed and face problems galore.

What impression does this send to MNC’s? People need reassurance from the Home Minister! Not an exaggerated picture of things to get extra bucks for his department.
