Partiality in withdrawal of cases against T-agitators?

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday criticised the TRS Government for selective withdrawal of cases related to Telangana agitation.

TPCC Vice-President Mohammed Ali Shabbir held a meeting with the students of Osmania University at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday to check the real status of withdrawal of cases registered against them.

During the conversation, the students complained that the government has withdrawn only petty cases which were registered for incidents like Rasta Roko or effigy burning. But, the students and others who participated in the agitation are still facing the major charges.

Speaking to media persons later, Shabbir Ali, along with OU students' leaders, said that the students had put their careers at stake while participating in the agitation. They gave preference to Telangana over their lives careers and aspirations of their parents.

But almost five months after the formation of Telangana State, the students are yet to get relief from the cases registered against them during the agitation.

The announcements of withdrawal of cases being made by the TRS Government are confined to paper and no major cases have been withdrawn so far, he said.
