Opposition Steps Up Attack On KCR

The just concluded monsoon session of the Telangana Assembly was just a drama enacted by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi which ensured that it did not face any opposition in the House.

“It was the Constitutional obligation and not his concern for farmers, which forced Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to convene the monsoon session,” Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Al Shabbir said.

“KCR held the session only to prevent his cabinet and government from being dissolved. As per Article 85 of the Constitution of India, it is mandatory to convene Assembly session once in every six months. Since last Assembly session concluded on March 26, KCR could not have delayed the session this time even by a day,” he said.

He said KCR openly enacted the drama of Assembly session and ran away from debating public issues.

After the suspension of entire opposition, the Assembly session turned into TRS Legislature Party meeting.

If KCR was serious, he should have continued the session till October 10, as decided by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

“Instead, he wind up the session three days earlier showing utter respect for democracy, Constitution and Legislative norms," he said.

Elsewhere, Bachao Telangana Mission president Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that if Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao fails to control farmer suicides by Dasara, he would launch a “KCR ko hatao, kisan ko bachao” campaign across the state.

Dr Reddy met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Thursday to enlighten him about the severe drought conditions, farmer suicides, the conduct of the Assembly session and suspension of the entire Opposition from the House.
