Opinion: Jinnah Will Be Proud Of This Man!

Any leader genuinely concerned about upholding the national spirit of integration will go in for policies aimed at unifying the citizens by finding common ground. And there are leaders who merely seek to exploit the already existing divisions in society by accentuating the same and reap political benefits out of it.

A policy of ‘Divide and Rule’ introduced by the British and now continued by KCR.

Recently, he announced allotment of one acre land for construction of Kerala Bhavan in Mahendra Hills in Secunderabad. He also extended Rs. 1 crore financial assistance for the construction of the building.

One can understand this gesture because the Kerala government has allotted five acres land at Sabarimala for the construction of a building for Ayappa devotees from Telangana who visit the shrine every year.

But KCR also went ahead and said that the poorest of the Malayalees settled in Hyderabad would be offered house sites and construction of 2 BHK flats, free of cost.

Naturally, the first question that would arise in the mind of a Bengali or Kannadiga settled in Hyderabad is: “What wrong have we done?” There are many poor people from the rest of India settled in Hyderabad? Why single out the Malayalee people for special treatment?

He divides the Telugu people along regional lines first. Then he divides the people along religious lines by announcing a Christian Bhavan. Then it is division along casteist lines by announcing Brahmin Bhavan, Yadav Bhavan etc. Now it is Kerala Bhavan, Assam Bhavan etc. Jinnah would have been proud of this man!
