The euphoria surrounding the household surveys inTelangana refuses to die down even after more than a year.
Remember, Intensive Household Survey conducted by Telangana government in August last year on a single day soon after KCR became Chief Minister.
People from far-off countries like USA, Canada, Australia, Gulf etc rushed to Telangana just to enroll for the survey with a fear that if they fail to enroll, they would become non-locals here and may lose even their properties that they have bought here, as the enrolment form also had columns relating to movable and immovable assets.
However, a year later no one knows the fate about that survey. Yesterday, when TS government again issued a GO that it would conduct house-to-house enumeration from November 16 to December 15, the rumours on identifying local, non-local status spread like a wildfire with memories of Intensive Household survery.
The government had to give a clarification saying that the survey was being done on the instructions of Centre to update National Population Register by seeding Aadhaar cards, and it was not the TS government’s own survey.
