Okay for bikini shows, not for silent rally?

Firebrand actress-turned-YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja on Thursday came down heavily on Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for denying permission to hold a silent rally at Rama Krishna beach in Visakhapatnam demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

She pointed out that Naidu had first given permission for holding bikini shows in the name of Vizag beach love festival but backed out under pressure from the Opposition parties and right wing groups.

“When he could give permission for the bikini shows, why can’t he give permission for the silent rally on the beach for a genuine cause like special category status?” she asked.

Roja alleged that Naidu was not interested in achieving special category status but had accepted special package only because he could get commissions from the funds granted by the Centre in the name of projects.

“Only if the state gets special category status, the youth would get some employment opportunities. Instead of fighting for the rights of the state, it is horrible that the Naidu government was trying to crush the democratic and peaceful agitation of the youth,” she said.
