During the peak of the Telangana movement, one had witnessed students of Osmania University and other institutions in Telangana targeting the properties of Seemandhra businessmen.
Several such properties were damaged in arson and stone pelting. The threat was so serious that the building owners had to cover the front portion with iron mesh to prevent the damage.
Now, Telangana has become a reality and the first government headed by Telangana Rashtra Samithi has completed one year. But the OU students are now angry with their own Telangana government, which is trying to usurp the university lands and also for not attending to the problems of growing unemployment.
On Monday, the irate students of OU students under the banner of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika attacked the Swagath Grand Hotel located at Habsiguda adjacent the Osmania University, alleging that the Hotel Management has encroached upon the University lands and built the Hotel.
The students hurled stones as a result of which the glass panes of the hotel were damaged. It is said that the Hotel belongs to Janagaon TRS MLA M Yadagiri Reddy.
On receipt of information, police reached the spot and took some of the students into custody.
