No Takers For Separate Seema Demand!

The demand for separate Rayalaseema State, being raised by some groups, has found few takers, especially with the political parties shying away from taking up the cause.

Some social activists and intellectuals proposed to hold a massive conclave at Tirupati on Saturday, but the response from political leaders and business people, who are supposed to fund the agitation, was far from satisfactory.

As a result, the organisers are now forced to indefinitely postpone the meeting on the pretext of heavy rains and floods in Chittoor and Kadapa.

Sources said YSR Congress party leadership did not evince any interest in taking up the Rayalaseema cause, though some leaders were speaking in favour of it.

The TDP will not support the demand for obvious reasons and the Congress party, which was totally battered in the last elections, is in no mood to espouse the cause as it will not help the party in any way.

“Unless the demand gets political momentum, the agitation will not be successful. In Telangana movement, there was an all-round support from all political parties and hence, it was a tremendous success and the goal could be accomplished,” sources said.
