The so-called agitation taken up by Telangana journalists in protest against the notices served on T-News television channels by the Andhra Pradesh government in the Naidu tapes episode seems to have no takers.
Except a few scribes from T-News channel and Namasthe Telangana daily, there were hardly any journalists who participated in the dharna in front of the AP Director General of Police office and AP Secretariat.
Even the journalist union leaders have made just a token presence in the agitation. By evening, the agitation fizzled out and except Namasthe Telangana daily, no other daily gave prominent coverage to the news.
The reasoning for this lukewarm response from media is very much predictable. The media in the Telangana and for the matter in AP as well, is divided into groups, just because of the political leanings of their managements.
When Sakshi was in trouble following the arrest of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, no other media came to its rescue and Sakshi team had to wage a lone battle against the government.
Similarly, when the Telangana government got the telecast of ABN Andhra Jyothy channel stopped all over the State, no other media house could protest against KCR’s highhanded behaviour.
Now, when KCR’s own media house T-News got the notices from AP government, other media houses are just laughing at it and some of them have even commented that KCR deserved this treatment!
