No Special Status To AP: Naidu Knows On Day One!

All these days, the TDP leaders have been giving the impression that their party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had been vigorously lobbying with the Centre on securing special status to AP.

Even Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has been bluffing about it for quite some time.

However, the TDP leaders have spilled the beans on Saturday, a day after the Centre made a statement on Friday in Parliament stating that there was no question of granting special status to AP.

“Naidu knows about it on the day one itself. We are all aware of it. Yet, we wanted to keep pressure on the Centre. If not special status, we will strive for a better special package for the State,” TDP MP from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy said.

Known for his outspokenness, Diwakar Reddy said: “If Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan comes forward, I will fight for special status alongside him, because he is the last hope. BJP will face trouble in Andhra if it denies ‘Special Status' to the new state,” he said.

TDP minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said, “If Centre cannot grant ‘Special Status,’ we will explore other options and try for special package.”

In his first reaction on the issue, the Chief Minister also said: “Union Minister Indrajit's statements are not meant for Andhra Pradesh. The residuary state should be treated separately unlike the other states. AP was bifurcated against the will of the people. The Centre should definitely consider ‘Special Status’ for AP.”
